Buckeye Valley Local School District, home of the Fighting Barons, is located in a rural setting in Delaware County which includes the villages of Ostrander, Radnor, Ashley and Kilbourne. Residents in the District span all levels including professionals and business executives, farmers, factory workers and laborers. The City of Delaware, just south of of the District is a college town of 26,000 located 20 miles north of Columbus, Ohio. Delaware is home to Ohio Wesleyan University as well as several industries.
The District enrollment of approximately 2,400 students is divided among three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Buckeye Valley Schools welcome open-enrollment students from all surrounding districts. The district operates on a seventeen-million dollar budget which includes 26 voted mills for operating expenses and a one-percent income tax.
