- Local Supports
Thanks to the generosity of individuals, service organizations, churches and businesses in our area, families received an average of 140 pounds of food and grocery items per visit. We distributed over 353,000 pounds of food, toiletries, diapers and cleaning supplies.
These products were provided entirely from community donations. Roughly 40% was purchased at very low cost from the Mid Ohio Food Bank using monetary donations. 30% was donated by local businesses, including Giant Eagle, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Trader Joe’s, Panera and GFS. The remaining 30% was collected at various community food drives. 90% of our expenditures were for products that went directly to the clients, and 10% was spent on supplies such as bags, office supplies and postage. We are grateful for the continued support of the Dublin Community Church-UCC for housing the Pantry free of charge, including covering our considerable utility usage.
The Pantry continues to enjoy wonderful community-wide support, not only through donations, but also through volunteering. We are blessed with a core team of over 70 volunteers who are committed to regular weekly or monthly tasks. These are assisted by another 30-40 volunteers each week who serve on a rotating basis to assist clients in making their grocery selections. Other teams of volunteers from businesses, schools, churches and service organizations put time and energy into conducting food drives, providing us with both an abundance and variety of food to offer to our neighbors in need.
